"Your patience is extraordinary, I must say." Was James's wry response, even though his smile lingered on his lips as the other man finished his apple. His writing, however, kept his words neat and not rushed, because after all, they did have all evening.
They are in no hurry- in truth Zevran was not entirely certain exactly how it was they'd be spending the evening. They'd teased one another plenty but James struck Zevran as a terribly impulsive or indulgent man. Going with whatever seemed most fitting could be quite enjoyable. "I have been praised for it, this is true."
"Well, I find it an admirable trait. Where did you learn such self control, I wonder?" He dipped his quill into the ink, almost thoughtfully. "Does it take a great deal to break it?"
"Yes, but apparently the Crows can't keep up with you. Which means you must be the most patient man alive." He hummed, as he finished writing his last report, and then sealed it with the Templar seal. He rose to his feet, straightening his 'casual' uniform. "Walk with me, to see these delivered? Then I am yours for the rest of the night
"You do have many of them." He smiled in turn, tucking his correspondence into his small satchel, and nodded his head across the courtyard.
"So tell me, Zevran ... you have an amazing grasp on the Chant of Light." He arched an eyebrow, "Is that simply to get in good with the devout Chantry boys and girls, as we are called?"
"Would you believe that I am, myself, a devout Andrastian?" In his own way, as much as an Assassin can be. Which is...more than most might think. He does not sing the chant with any great regularity, but he does sing. Does pray. Does on occasion ask for forgiveness for his sins.
James stopped, arching an eyebrow at the other man. "I would say I was surprised -- but certainly not displeased." One corner of his mouth lifted, "Something we have in common."
"It is part of being a good Antivan Citizen. Live well, work well, give your thanks to the maker and so forth." Thanks being quite fluid a thing and the regularity with which it was to be done more or less left up to the individual. "All the more reason that I am somewhat surprised at your flirtations. Pleased, but surprised. Most southerners are quite skittish, I have noticed."
"My dear Zevran ... I am from the Free Marches. We tend to be slightly looser than Fereldan or Orlais." Is James's wry response, before he states a little more seriously. "To be honest - it is simply a pleasure to be liked, Zevran. Flirting with you is a boon, because you are a person that people want to be around. I ... for a variety of reasons, am not. You flatter me with your attentions, and I hope to flatter you in kind."
"You do realize that, to someone of Antiva, the Marches are still the barbaric south, yes?" It was said with no little affection- as Antiva had been far too dangerous for him to enjoy and the Imperium full of its own peril- the South had become his home in all its wonders. "Well perhaps if you scowled less fearsome at the common man and wore tighter trousers. I have found that the world opens its arms and its purse when you wear a bright grin and sinfully tight leathers."
"Oh, why am I not surprised?" Is Norrington's wry response, "Well, we barbaric southerns have managed to muddle on through with our own ... sexual mores."
He stopped at that statement, his lips twitching up at the corners, "Are you telling me the road into anyone's interest is to wear tighter pants - and frown less?"
"It has done wonders for me." He grinned, pleased. "I suppose it would depend upon the contents of said trousers. If your legs are shapely and your ass pleasing to the eye. I would have to see for myself to be certain."
"Oh well, in that case we will have to ensure you see both. I truly would like it to be judged by an expert in the field." James stated mildly, even if his lips quirked up at the corners. He slowed his steps as he approached the quarter-master's office, knocking politely on the door, before entering and handing off his post.
He stepped outside once more, and then lifted one eyebrow at Zevran. "Well, I am free of obligations, unless a demon bursts free from some corner of the Fade."
"I shall enjoy doing so." He leans against the wall as he waits for James to conclude his business, considering where they might do this. His room would be ideal, but he did not feel like washing his sheets again this week. "I doubt that shall be a problem. Shall we away to your chambers?"
Please say you have chambers, Norrington, and that you are not living out of a tent.
"We shall away to my chambers -- but I will warn you now, they are nothing elaborate." James states, as he gestured to the stairs, leading up to the ramparts. "I am, after all, one of a few Knight Commanders and one of the last to arrive. I had to take what I could find."
"So long as it is not a tent in the valley or the courtyard." He has had a tumble in a tent before- but if he does not have to do so? He'd rather have a proper bed.
"Absolutely not. It was when I began here - but I have established myself enough to grant myself a little privacy." His lips quirk at the edges, "I am afraid you will simply find it as dour as you must find me."
"If I found you dour I would not wish to bed you." He sidled up next to Norrington, one arm dropping around his waist as though he had a right to do so. For the moment? He did. "As I do wish to bed you, I must not find you dour."
James didn't blink with surprise - from the moment he had met Zevran he had a way of sliding up next to you without your noticing. As always, he felt that pulse of warmth, that flush to his ears, but today he simply slipped his hand into Zevran's fine pale hair, twisting one loose strand around his finger as they continued to his room.
"Well, then I suppose I should let you bed me, so I continue not to be dour, hm?"
"Well, you do not need me to be less dour- but I do think you have more than earned yourself an Antivan Massage- and a pleasant ending to the same." He tipped his head to rest against Norrington's shoulder. "You work yourself far too hard."
"Well that sounds intriguing ... and relaxing." Two things Norrington had to admit he had a lack of in his life. He paused, turning the other man towards him, as they were right outside his door. "Perhaps."
He leaned in, to gently kiss the other man's throat, his voice quiet, "But I will show you that hard work does pay off in the end."
Zevran tilted his head to the side, allowing James all the room he might desire while allowing himself to relax a few hitches more. Human, yes, man, yes- faithful. Devout.
With that encouragement, James let his lips linger on Zevran's throat, tasting his way down to his shoulder. then up again. He gently bit Zevran's ear, before leaning over to open his own door.

There was something to be said for chantry men.
